What this is
Edutiers ranks schools and programmes on the quality of the education people received, not on prestige, selectivity or research output. The number comes from reviews by students, alumni, parents and staff, weighted by how much evidence stands behind it.
What a tier means
A tier is an absolute band on the 0–10 scale. It says how good something is, not where it places against its neighbours — every school in a country can be an A, and none of them has to be an F.
Why a single glowing review changes nothing
Every aggregate is shrunk toward the average until there is enough evidence behind it, and a programme has to clear a review threshold before it counts toward its institution at all. A subject with no reviews has no score — unknown and poor are different claims.
The equal-opportunity toggle
One switch re-weights the whole ranking: institutions that charge fees or select heavily score lower, those offering scholarships or step-free access score higher. It changes what you see, never what reviewers said.
