What Edutiers is

Edutiers is a catalogue of schools and programmes with ratings written by the people who attended them. Facts about an institution come from public registers and from the institution itself; scores and tiers are computed from reviews and from nothing else. It is a place to compare, not advice about what to study or where to send a child, and a tier is an opinion aggregated from other people's opinions.

Accounts

You need an email address you control, and you must be at least 16. One person, one account: a second account used to add weight to your own opinion is the thing we most reliably remove. Keep your address and any password to yourself, and tell us if you think somebody else is using your account.

We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or the review guidelines. Where we do, we say why, and you can appeal.

What you write

Your reviews stay yours. You are responsible for what you write, you must have actually experienced what you are describing, and you must follow the review guidelines — which are written as rules a moderator can apply rather than as a statement of values.

The permission you give us

By submitting a review you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free and perpetual licence to store, publish, translate, excerpt, aggregate and display it on Edutiers and in material about Edutiers, under your pseudonym. You keep ownership and you can withdraw a review yourself while the editing window is open.

The licence outlives your account. Closing an account severs the link between you and your reviews but leaves the reviews published — otherwise deleting an account would be a way to erase criticism after the fact. This is explained in full in the privacy policy.

Moderation

Reviews of institutions and programmes are published immediately and moderated on complaint; reviews of teaching are checked before publication. Everything submitted goes through automatic checks for spam, duplication and personal data first, and anything over the threshold waits for a person.

We can remove or hold a review, refuse one, or end an account. Every decision is recorded with its reason and can be appealed, and the review guidelines set out what actually gets removed — a low rating, on its own, never does.

Facts from registers and third parties

Much of the catalogue comes from official registers, and registers are sometimes wrong, out of date, or describing a school that has since merged or closed. We attribute every source and we correct what we are told about, but we do not warrant that any of it is accurate or current, and you should check anything that matters to a decision with the institution itself.

Availability

The site is provided as it is. We do not promise that it will be available without interruption, that it will be free of errors, or that any particular school, programme or feature will remain on it.

Liability

To the extent Dutch law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost opportunity, or for a decision you took on the strength of something you read here, and our total liability in any twelve-month period is limited to what you paid us in that period — for a reader, that is nothing. Nothing in these terms limits liability for intent, for deliberate recklessness, or for death or personal injury, because Dutch law does not allow that to be limited.

If you represent an institution

Claiming a listing and subscribing as a partner are covered by the partnership terms, which sit alongside these. The single most important line in them is that nothing bought there affects a score, a tier or a position in a ranking.

Closing your account

Close your account from your account settings, or ask us to and we will do it. Your reviews stay published without you attached to them; if a published review contains something that identifies you, send a notice and we will edit or remove the review itself.

Which law applies

Dutch law governs these terms and any dispute about them, and Dutch courts are competent to hear one. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory rules of your own country of residence, and you may bring proceedings there.

Changes

We update these terms from time to time. Material changes are announced on the site before they take effect; continuing to use Edutiers after that is how you accept them. The date at the top is the version currently in force.
